According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets will not move forward with Stephen Silas as head coach The organization will reportedly decline his fourth-year option on Monday.
Silas originally joined the Rockets in the 2020-21 season to help with their rebuild. Over that span, however, the team has struggled to show much growth, as they’ve gone just 59-117 over the past three seasons.
Before joining the franchise, Silas was one of the most well-respected assistant coaches in the NBA. Wojnarowski notes that he’s expected to still be held in high regard as he looks for a new gig this summer.
As for the Rockets, they’ll join the Detroit Pistons in taking a look at former Celtics coach Ime Udoka, per Woj. Names like Kenny Atkinson, Frank Vogel, and Nick Nurse have also already been mentioned.
