According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, LA Clippers star Paul George will likely be out for the team’s first playoff series against the Suns.
George joined the Clippers to exercise at Crypto.com Arena on April 8th for the first time since sustaining the knee injury on March 21 against Oklahoma City. There is currently no definitive timetable for his return, but his appearance on Saturday provides at least some hope that George will be back in time to make a difference in the postseason.
The small forward averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game for the Clippers this season. Los Angeles gets the week off and will begin the series against Phoenix on April 16th, where they will start off without homecourt advantage.
Considering this is one of the only updates we’ve received on George thus far, it’s hard to know if he’ll be able to return at all during the first round. While it’s good to hear he’s making some “tangible” progress, he’s undoubtedly going to need some significant ramp-up time to get up to playoff speed.
