Due to worries over teams tanking at the end of the regular season for the NBA Draft lottery, the league introduced a play-in tournament to begin the playoffs so 10 teams from each conference will be in the mix throughout the season. The play-in games and matchups determine the number seven and eight seeds in each of the Eastern and Western Conferences. Four teams seeded 7-10 compete in the games.
