Kevin Durant Just Became the Third NBA Player Ever to Land a Lifetime Deal with Nike

Chicago Bulls, NBA, News

Kevin Durant officially announced on Friday that he has inked a lifetime deal with Nike.

The Phoenix Suns’ superstar initially joined the brand during his rookie campaign in 2007. The two have worked closely throughout his career, developing his signature shoe brand that is nearing its 16th release.

“When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed of how far we’d go in this partnership. We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I’m excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal,” Durant said in a statement on Boardroom.

Durant now belongs on one of the most prestigious lists in brand deal history. The two-time champion is one of only three NBA players to ever sign a lifetime deal with Nike, joining both Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

Not seen on the exact same level as those two players in the public eye, there is still no question that Durant has been one of the NBA’s signature faces of the past decade-plus. He will go down as one of the best scoring forwards the game has ever seen. And Nike will now help ensure that his name lives on in the NBA community forever.

Congrats to KD!
