Stephen Curry vs. LeBron James Matchup History

LeBron James and Stephen Curry are about to tip off one of the NBA’s most highly anticipated second-round series in quite some time.

Thanks to Curry’s historic 50 points in Game 7 against the Sacramento Kings, the Golden State Warriors will welcome the Los Angeles Lakers to San Francisco on Monday night. The Lakers are fresh off defeating a banged-up Memphis Grizzlies team in six games, winning the final contest a convincing 125-85.

Los Angeles’ fate has turned ever since the trade deadline. Making a handful of moves to add role players like D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley, they held the NBA’s 6th-best net rating after the All-Star break. Now, after a successful first-round upset, the Lakers have held the 3rd-best net rating thus far in the postseason.

As for the Warriors, they’re looking to defend their title in the wake of an up-and-down regular season. They’re off to a decent start after upsetting one of the best offenses in the NBA, but can they carry that momentum into another tough battle with LeBron James?

If one thing is for sure, Stephen Curry will be ready for the challenge. The Warriors’ superstar is no stranger to going up against one of the NBA’s fiercest competitors. With that in mind, let’s review just how much experience these two have duking it out on the court.

Curry vs. LeBron Regular Season Record

Stephen Curry and LeBron James have faced off a total of 20 times during the regular season. Believe it or not, the two actually sit deadlocked with 10 wins apiece.

James has the upper-handed statistically, averaging 28.8 points per game on 51.2 percent shooting versus Curry’s Warriors. Meanwhile, Curry has averaged just 22.2 points on 45.5 percent shooting in his 20 games against James during the regular season.

Curry vs. LeBron Playoff Record

When the postseason begins, Curry rises to the occasion.

Curry and James have met 22 times in the postseason. Every single one of those games occurred during the NBA Finals. While James was on the Cleveland Cavaliers, he battled Curry’s Warriors in four-straight NBA Finals.

Curry holds the advantage with a 15-7 record against James in the playoffs. This includes three NBA Finals victories over James, meaning James has beaten Curry only once in a playoff series.

Curry Playoff Stats vs. James: 25.4 PTS (42.2 FG%, 39.7 3PT%), 6.3 AST, 5.9 REB, 1.5 STL

James Playoff Stats vs. Curry: 33.0 PTS (48.1 FG%, 34.9 3PT%), 9.3 AST, 11.5 REB, 1.7 STL, 1.3 BLK

Highest-Scoring Performances

LeBron James holds the top nine highest-scoring games in the LeBron vs. Curry playoff matchups. However, he went on to win only four of those games.

Curry has scored 33 or more points in five of his 22 playoff games against James. He walked away victorious in every one of those matchups.
