Nikola Jokic Avoids Suspension, Handed Fine for Game 4 Incident
Nikola Jokic will be available for Game 5 on Tuesday night, per Adrian Wojnarowski.
The superstar’s status came into question immediately following an incident with Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia during Game 4. As the Suns’ Josh Okogie lost the ball out of bounds, Ishbia grabbed the ball and tucked it under his arm. Jokic proceeded to run over and attempt to snatch the ball, ultimately giving Ishbia a slight shove.
Administered a technical, fans were then at the edge of their seats waiting to see what other form of punishment the NBA might hand out after the game. Now, we know Jokic will walk away with nothing more than a $25,000 fine.
This became the far more likely outcome earlier this morning. Ishbia sent out a message over social media stating that he holds nothing against Jokic and doesn’t want to see the two-time MVP suspended for the act.
The Suns will now travel to Jokic’s home court and try to take the series lead at 9:00 p.m. CT tomorrow night.
