In the best news we’ll see all day, the Buffalo Bills announced that safety Damar Hamlin has been released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after spending seven days in the ICU following the scary incident during the first quarter of last week’s contest between the Bills and Bengals.
According to a tweet by the Bills, Hamlin has returned home to Buffalo since being discharged from the hospital.
Hamlin confirmed the news from his personal Twitter account this afternoon as well:
Seeing Hamlin discharged from the hospital and on his way home is hugely encouraging news, and he and his family (both on and off the football field) will stay in my thoughts as he enters the next phase of his recovery.
The last seven days have brought the NFL world and community together and given us an example of what it looks like for everyone to come together in a time of need.
Hamlin’s Go Fund Me page initially started as a toy drive for his foundation that serves the Pittsburgh area youth, has surpassed $8 million since the injury occurred. The entire NFL was representing Hamlin’s No. 3 jersey number this weekend.
Here’s to a continued speedy recovery for Hamlin!
