NFL Announces FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Year Nominees

While it’s playoff season around the NFL (ask my fingers today), it’s also awards season! The NFL announced today the nominees for the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Year Awards. It was a clean sweep for the AFC this season, with all three quarterbacks and running backs coming from that conference.

You can vote for the FedEx Air and ground players beginning today through February 9 online or on the NFL’s Twitter poll!

2022 FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year

Joe Burrow turned in another strong performance for the Bengals this year. The third-year quarterback completed 414 of 606 passes for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns. Burrow’s performance this season helped lead the Bengals to an AFC North title and second straight playoff berth.

Patrick Mahomes led the NFL in passing with 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns. Mahomes also completed 435 of 648 passes this season. Mahomes’ usual magic through the air helped the Chiefs secure the top seed in the AFC and a first-round bye.

Josh Allen and the Bills are heading back to the playoffs with an AFC East title in tow thanks in large part to Allen’s air dominance. Allen completed 359 of 567 passes for 4,283 yards and 35 touchdowns this season.

2022 FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Year

Nick Chubb had a stellar season as the featured back in Cleveland. Chubb rushed for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns on 302 carries. Chubb averaged a sizzling 5.04 yards per carry this season!

Derrick Henry was his usual self this year, battering opposing defenses with every one of his 349 carries. Henry racked up 1,538 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns for the Titans this season.

Josh Jacobs led the NFL in rushing this season with 1,653 rushing yards on 340 carries (4.8 YPC). Jacobs also scored 12 rushing touchdowns for the Raiders this season.
