The New York Giants have been one of the more surprisingly fun stories of the 2023 NFL season, and Saturday, they get their 3rd crack at the Philadelphia Eagles. How hard is it really to beat a team three times in a row? San Francisco had no problems with Seattle.
The Giants roll into this one with a lot of momentum, coming off a road win in the Wild Card Round over the 13-win Vikings. They play with absolutely no fear and really have nothing to lose. The Eagles come off the 1st Round Bye, and Jalen Hurts has played just one game since December 18th.
So what will it be for Philly in this one: rest or rust? The answer to that question probably decides this one.

Giants Path to Victory
Well, they’re going to need a lot to go right and for the Eagles to show more rust than rest. Daniel Jones was nearly perfect in last weekend’s win in Minnesota, and they’ll need him to be great again, but this weekend’s x-factor is Saquon Barkley.
The Eagles rush the passer as well as anyone, but they’re gettable on the ground. They’ve had health issues on the interior DL, and their edge rushers are on the older side. From Week 5 and on, they allowed 100+ rush yards in every game but two.
If the Giants can get the ball to Barkley in space, like in the play below, and play physically at the point of attack, they can control the game and keep it close.
Defensively, they’ll need to get pressure on Jalen Hurts early and often. Wink Martindale is one of the best in the game at dialing up pressure, and with Hurts having played just one game since December 18th, making him uncomfortable will be massively important.
Eagles Path to Victory
There are several paths to victory for Philly in this one. They’re 7.5-point favorites for a reason, are 2-0 against the Giants, and when healthy, they have been the best team in the NFL most of the season.
The easiest way for them to win this one is to make Daniel Jones’ life a living hell. If they can get home with four rushers like they have been able to do, Jones and this limited receiving corps will struggle.
Jones was excellent against a bad Vikings defense, but if Philly can get home with four consistently, the Giants will have issues moving the ball.
Prediction
I love the way the Giants play, no fear at all and I don’t expect them to have any this weekend in Philly. But in the end, I think the Eagles are just too talented.
