The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a deal to hire Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as the team’s head coach, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
Gannon, 40, has spent the past two seasons as Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator. Gannon stayed in Phoenix to meet with the Cardinals on Monday after the Super Bowl. The Cardinals kept in Arizona on Tuesday to meet with owner Michael Bidwill.
Gannon will replace former head coach Kliff Kingsbury after the Cardinals fired Kingsbury on the heels of a 4-13 season.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals’ decision came down to Gannon and Bengals’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Rapoport said that Anarumo impressed the Cardinals in his second interview. In the end, the Cardinals are hiring Gannon.
