Arizona Cardinals Hire Jonathan Gannon as Head Coach

The Arizona Cardinals are hiring former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as their next head coach. Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, and Josina Anderson have all reported that Gannon is the hire in Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a deal to hire Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as the team’s head coach, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

Gannon, 40, has spent the past two seasons as Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator. Gannon stayed in Phoenix to meet with the Cardinals on Monday after the Super Bowl. The Cardinals kept in Arizona on Tuesday to meet with owner Michael Bidwill.

Gannon will replace former head coach Kliff Kingsbury after the Cardinals fired Kingsbury on the heels of a 4-13 season.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals’ decision came down to Gannon and Bengals’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Rapoport said that Anarumo impressed the Cardinals in his second interview. In the end, the Cardinals are hiring Gannon.

With the hire of Gannon in Arizona, the NFL’s 2023 head coach cycle has concluded. Here’s how it shook out:
