After two days of meetings with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in California, the Jets are optimistic about their chances to land the future Hall of Fame quarterback. This according to Diana Russini of ESPN.
The Packers have given Aaron Rodgers permission to speak with the Jets, according to a report from the NFL Network, since Rodgers is still under contract with the Packers. Jets owner Woody Johnson was a part of the meetings with Rodgers in New York.
Russini went on to say that the optimism “existed before the California meeting,” but owner Woody Johnson felt it was important to meet in person. Johnson left the meeting excited about a potential match, according to Russini.
Despite no decision being made by Rodgers yet, the Packers and Jets continue to work on a trade. The two teams are discussing compensation for Rodgers if he was to agree to a trade to the Jets.
For now, we continue to wait on a decision from Rodgers. We’ll have more information and reaction when it becomes available.
