Top NFL Free Agent Linebackers 2023

NFL

It’s time for NFL free agency and teams are ready to make some noise. The offseason is in full swing with the combine in the books and free agency beginning on March 15. Here are some of the top NFL free agent linebackers for the 2023 offseason.

Lavonte David

David started all 17 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season while racking up 124 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. He might be 33 years old but he can still play linebacker at a high level. He will be a highly sought-after 2023 NFL free agent this offseason.

Tremaine Edmunds

Edmunds started 13 games for the Bills and had 102 tackles, seven pass deflections, and a sack in 2022. He really improved in coverage and will be just 25 years old during the 2023 season. Edmunds has had over 100 tackles each season with the Bills

David Long

During the 2022 season, Long started 12 games and had 86 tackles for the Tennessee Titans. It was his first season as a full-time starter at middle linebacker. He made the most of it and added seven tackles for loss on the year.

TJ Edwards

It was a career year for the solid linebacker Edwards in his fourth season with the Eagles. He had 159 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and seven pass deflections. Each of those was a career-high for the four-year pro. Edwards started 47 games for the Eagles in his career including all 17 during the 2022 season.

Leighton Vander Esch

Vander Esch is still looking for some of that magic from his rookie season in which he had 140 tackles and was a second-team All-Pro selection. He started 14 games last season and registered 90 tackles, a forced fumble, and a sack. He finds himself in a crowded free agent group of linebackers.

Bobby Okereke

Okereke stepped up in 2022 for the Colts with 151 tackles while starting 16 games. He had to turn up his game due to the absence of Shaquille Leonard. He should be one of the off-ball linebackers drawing attention during 2023 free agency.

Drue Tranquill

The 2022 season was the first as a full-time starter for Drue Tranquill. He almost had more tackles than his first three seasons combined. Tranquill had 146 tackles on the year with five sacks and a forced fumble. He also totaled 10 tackles for a loss for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Germaine Pratt

Pratt has started 54 games in his career for the Bengals and had his best season in 2022. He racked up 99 tackles to go along with a forced fumble and a sack. Pratt also had two interceptions on the year as the Bengals won the division. The team has some tough decisions with many players on defense set to become free agents.

Alex Singleton

Singleton had 163 tackles for the Denver Broncos in 2022 and has come a long way from his start as an undrafted free agent. He also had six tackles for loss during the 2022 NFL season. He’s a solid all-around linebacker and has been durable over the last three seasons being a part of over 750 snaps in each.

Kyzir White, Azeez Al-Shaair, and Denzel Perryman are a few more names that will get some looks as teams make free agency decisions leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft. Al-Shaair missed time in 2022 with injuries while White had 110 tackles for the Eagles.
