I’m no mathematician, but I’m pretty sure $21 million per season is a considerable chunk of change. Chris Lindstrom is getting a substantial extension from the Falcons, according to Mike Garafolo: five-years, $105 million. The massive deal makes Lindstrom the highest-paid guard in the league by both total value and yearly average salary.
Only the Colts’ guard Quentin Nelson makes $20 million per year on his contract, which is a million less than Lindstrom will now make.
The 26-year-old guard was taken 14th overall by the Falcons in 2019 and has been steadily improving since arriving in Atlanta. Lindstrom earned second-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection this season.
Lindstrom posted a stellar 95.0 overall grade at PFF this season. The Falcons started the day with over $60 million in cap space, so they still have plenty of money to work with in free agency, and now they’ve locked up one of the best young offensive linemen in the league.
