Zero surprise here. Jimmy Garoppolo is heading to Vegas to reunite with head coach Josh McDaniels and the Raiders. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media delivered the news this afternoon.
Garoppolo spent time with McDaniels when the two were in New England and now becomes his starting quarterback in Las Vegas.
Garoppolo has spent the last six years in San Francisco and made a trip to the Super Bowl and two to the NFC Championship as the starter. Garoppolo was good in San Francisco, but his relationship with head coach Kyle Shanahan has deteriorated, and the 49ers were ready to move on.
Garoppolo’s deal with the Raiders is a three-year deal worth $67.5 million with $34 million guaranteed. Garoppolo and the Raiders seemed like a perfect fit from the start, and Vegas wasted no time hammering out a deal to get their new starting QB.
With Garoppolo off the board, the QB market is extremely bare of starting talent at this point. The Jets better hope they end up landing Aaron Rodgers, or it’ll be Zach Wilson time again next season.
