Jakobi Meyers is Heading to the Raiders on a Three-Year Deal
Did you know that not a single wide receiver was signed on Monday’s first day of the legal tampering period? Yep. Well, we’ve got one early today. Former Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is heading to Vegas.
Adam Schefter is reporting that Meyers will sign a three-year deal with the Raiders:
Meyers’ deal with the Raiders will pay him $33 million over three seasons. It also includes $21 million guaranteed.
Meyers said this to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson on his decision to choose the Raiders:
“It’s hard to turn down Las Vegas. When you look at their offense when you look at their coaches. They wanted me; I wanted them. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out with the Patriots. I put a lot of effort into my time there. I appreciate them, but God works in mysterious ways. I’m blessed.”
After signing Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday, the Raiders’ depth chart lacked quality receiver depth behind Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Now Vegas has that in Jakobi Meyers. However, Vegas still needs lots of help on the other side of the ball.
Still, Meyers coming off the board should get the receiver market moving today. It’s already been reported that the Jets are also working on a deal with Allen Lazard.
Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn’t bring up the moment that defined Jakobi Meyers’ last trip to Vegas:
