The Jets continue to restructure their wide receivers room, presumably for, you know who. After signing former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman, the Jets have traded wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns.
The Jets are sending the 74th pick in the draft and Moore to Cleveland for pick No. 42. Moore asked for a trade during the season after not seeing eye-to-eye with former offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. Moore stuck around, however, and trailed only rookie Garrett Wilson in offensive snaps among Jets wide receivers.
Still, Moore caught just 37 passes for 446 yards and a touchdown in 2022. Now the former second-round pick of the Jets (2021) gets a fresh start in Cleveland.
The Jets add a second-rounder in the 2023 NFL Draft, which will either make its way to Green Bay in a trade for Aaron Rodgers or soften the blow of the picks that do.
New York also added former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman today.
Hardman comes the New York on a one-year deal (financials unavailable) after spending four seasons in Kansas City. Hardman caught 25 passes for 297 yards with four touchdowns in eight games last season.
In 2021, Hardman he caught 59 passes for 693 yards with two touchdowns for the Chiefs. He has also contributed out of the backfield and on kick and punt returns.
As for the Browns, the addition of Moore may take them out of the wide receiver market. We discussed their involvement in that market in bullets this morning.
