The Eagles are coming off a tough 38-35 loss in Super Bowl 57 to the Kansas City Chiefs. The team has already lost a few key players in free agency, which has left Eagles fans hoping for a strong NFL Draft. General manager Howie Roseman has his work cut out for him this offseason to keep the team’s roster strong. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the Eagles’ draft picks for 2023.
Eagles Draft Picks in the 2023 NFL Draft
The Eagles have six selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. They will welcome six players to the pro football ranks, as well as sign undrafted free agents after the conclusion of the event. The Eagles’ picks are as follows:
– 1st Round: 10th overall (From the Saints in a 2022 offseason trade)
– 1st Round: 30th overall
– 2nd Round: 62nd overall
– 3rd Round: 94th overall
– 7th Round: 219th overall
– 7th Round: 248th overall (From Vikings through the Texans in the Jalen Reagor trade)
The Eagles traded away their fourth, fifth, and sixth-round picks in various deals sending a pick to the Bears, Saints, and Jaguars.
Eagles Mock Drafts and Team Needs
Who will the Eagles take in the first round at No. 10 overall? Several 2023 NFL Mock Drafts have the Eagles taking a defensive player in the first round. A few options include defensive lineman Myles Murphy from Clemson or his teammate Trenton Simpson.
Simpson is an outside linebacker who had 73 total tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Tigers in 2022. Two of the latest Philadelphia Eagles to leave in free agency were starting linebackers, TJ Edwards and Kyzir White. Simpson could be a potential replacement.
The secondary has taken a hit in the offseason, so the team might look to address the need at cornerback and safety in the upcoming NFL Draft. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Marcus Epps are gone after accepting offers in free agency.
There is also the chance they could select defensive tackle Jalen Carter from Georgia. He didn’t participate in the combine but has shown plenty of upside during his collegiate career.
Running back Miles Sanders is off to the Panthers, so the team will be looking for a starting running back to help out quarterback Jalen Hurts. Sanders put up some great stats in 2022 with 11 rushing touchdowns. The team also is lacking receiving depth to back up stars AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, who led the team in receiving yards last season.
When is the 2023 NFL Draft?
The 2023 NFL Draft is a three-day event at the end of April. The draft runs from April 27-29 and takes place in Kansas City, Missouri. The First Round selections are made on April 27 starting at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network and ESPN.
The second and third rounds are on Friday, April 28 starting at 7 p.m. ET. The final rounds of the draft take place on Saturday, April 29 starting at noon ET.
Philadelphia Eagles Draft FAQs
The 2023 NFL Draft takes place on April 27-29. The event runs from Thursday to Saturday. It begins with the first round on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
The Eagles have two 1st-round picks, a 2nd, a 3rd, and two 7th-round picks in this year’s draft. The NFC Champion has some needs to fill on defense and will take advantage of having multiple 1st-round picks and another pick in round 2.
Thanks to a trade with the Saints, the Eagles have the No. 10 overall pick in the 1st round. Also, the team has the No. 30 pick.
