Los Angeles Chargers 2023 NFL Mock Draft and Team Needs
The Chargers might look to add a skill position in their first-round pick to give more weapons to pro bowl quarterback Justin Herbert. Options include stellar running back Bijan Robinson from Texas or wide receiver Zay Flowers from Boston College. Herbert helped the team reach the playoffs in just his third season as a pro and the Bolts will undoubtedly want to keep adding talent around him.
The Chargers might also look at a tight end in the first or second round. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore liked to utilize the position in Dallas. On defense, the Chargers could use depth at outside linebacker to help out the pass rush of Nick Bosa and Khalil Mack. Other needs include safety, as the depth chart is looking pretty thin after Derwin James Jr.
In the 2022 draft, the team drafted offensive guard Zion Johnson from Boston College in the first round at No. 17 overall. They spent their third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on safety JT Woods. Woods played sparingly in 10 games in his first year in the league.
