2023 NFL Holiday Games Schedule: Slime Time! Chiefs-Raiders Get Nickelodeon Christmas Game
The NFL is currently releasing its schedule this morning and has just announced the holiday game schedule. We’ve got the matchups for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and the inaugural Black Friday game so far.
In the first-ever Black Friday game, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are heading to East Rutherford to take on Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins.
This is an excellent pick by the NFL and Amazon. First, of course, we’ve got the Rodgers factor. But, more importantly, if things go according to plan, we’ve got a crucial AFC East matchup between two teams potentially vying for a division title and a Wild Card spot.
The Dolphins and Jets are expected to be contenders, so this one should be good. The Jets will be the home team in this game.
Next, we have a Christmas Day matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. Again, the NFL has given us a matchup between two division rivals and two expected contenders late in the season. The Eagles thumped the Giants in the NFC playoffs last season and will be looking to push for home-field advantage by the time this one rolls around on the calendar.
FOX will broadcast the game starting at 3:30 PM (CT).
Finally, we learned this morning that the next installment in the rivalry between the Chiefs and Bengals will take place on New Year’s Eve!
Cincinnati’s 2022 season ended in Kansas City when Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal in the AFC title game sent the Chiefs to Super Bowl LVII. However, one year prior, the Bengals pulled off an improbable comeback at Arrowhead in the 2021 AFC title game, coming back from an 18-point first-half deficit to defeat the Chiefs in overtime and reach their first Super Bowl in three decades.
This is the fifth meeting between the two teams in the Burrow and Mahomes eras. The Bengals are 3-1 against the Chiefs (1-1 in the playoffs). CBS has the coverage of this game, and it will be a 3:35 PM (CT) kickoff at Arrowhead Stadium.
UPDATE (May 11, 6:56 AM): Chiefs Host Raiders on Christmas Day
The Chiefs will also play on Christmas Day, joining the Eagles and Giants. Kansas City will host the Raiders in the Noon slot on Christmas Day. That game will be on CBS and Nickelodeon. We now have two of the three Christmas Day games revealed.
Note: This story will be updated as more NFL holiday games become available!
