NFL Injury Report: Notable Week 2 Injuries

Sunday is in the books, and we’ve got a double-header of action ahead of us tonight on Monday Night Football as Week 2 winds to a close. But first, let’s discuss some of the notable injuries from around the NFL this weekend.

NFL Injury Report: Notable Week 2 Injuries

  • Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) tweaked his calf again on Sunday. After the Bengals’ loss to the Ravens, Burrow said he tweaked his calf again late in the fourth quarter against the Ravens. Burrow said he wanted to give the calf “a couple more sleeps” before discussing his availability for Week 3. Zac Taylor said Burrow was good enough to go back into the game had the Bengals gotten another possession down the stretch. That didn’t happen as the Ravens salted away their victory over Cincinnati, dropping the Bengals to 0-2.
  • Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) left New York’s comeback victory over the Cardinals on Sunday with an ankle injury. Barkley was seen getting his ankle taped on the sideline, but he did not re-enter the game. Barkley will have more tests today — although x-rays were negative on Sunday. The Giants have a short week with a Thursday night game against the 49ers on the horizon.
  • Lions running back David Montgomery (quad) has a quad bruise that he said will take “a couple weeks” to heal. Montgomery shared the information with a reporter who stopped him in the Lions locker room on Sunday after Detroit’s overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

  • Buccaneers running back Chase Edmonds will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a Grade 2 MCL Sprain (Jordan Schultz). Edmonds’ diagnosis was confirmed this morning by the Bucs with further testing.
  • Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (concussion) left Sunday’s contest with the Texans and was eventually ruled out in the second quarter with a concussion.
  • Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was ruled out in the second half of Sunday’s game versus the Bengals. Head coach John Harbaugh said he doesn’t believe the injury is serious.
  • Cowboys offensive lineman Zack Martin (ankle) did not return versus the Jets. Martin came out of the game as a precautionary measure after rolling his ankle and is fine, NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported.
  • Packers guard Elgton Jenkins (knee) was ruled out in the second half of Sunday’s game versus the Falcons. He is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, adding that Jenkins will have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.
  • Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (concussion) was ruled out late in Sunday’s game to be checked for a concussion. On Monday, head coach Mike McDaniel said they’d know more about Waddle’s situation. Running back Salvon Ahmed also suffered a groin injury and did not return.
  • Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen (chest) did not return to Sunday’s game versus the Lions. Head coach Pete Carroll said Woolen hurt his shoulder but said that he’d be fine.
  • Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams was evaluated for a concussion after Sunday’s game versus the Bills.
