Another Monday night, another devastating injury to one of the NFL’s brightest stars. Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb had to be carted off the field early in the second quarter tonight after suffering a gruesome knee injury.
If you missed the play live, consider yourself lucky. The immediate comparison that popped into my head when I saw it was former Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith in a 2017 preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. It was a devastating-looking hit to his knee.
The Browns star running back was almost instantly ruled out of tonight’s game by the Browns, and according to head coach Kevin Stefanski, Chubb will miss the rest of the 2023 season.
Kevin Stefanski confirms Nick Chubb’s season-ending injury after loss to the Steelers
Nick Chubb dislocated his left knee and tore his MCL, PCL, and LCL with cartilage damage on October 10, 2015, when he was in college at Georgia vs. Tennessee. He injured the same knee tonight against the Steelers.
Chubb wasn’t the only player who was lost to injury tonight. Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for a chest injury. In the other Monday night game, Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson also suffered a season-ending injury, making that three season-ending injuries in three Monday Night Football games this season.
