QBs Dominate MVP Race
As usual, quarterbacks dominate the race for MVP. It’s the most important position in football and a team’s success usually hinges on a quarterback’s performance. Check out the leaders in the 2024 MVP race.
Lamar Jackson (QB, Ravens)

Lamar Jackson has been incredible in 2024 as he has led the Ravens to five straight wins after an 0-2 start. Jackson threw 5 touchdown passes vs the Bucs on Monday night which puts him at 15 TD passes for the season. His QB rating is 118.0 which is first in the league and he is second in QBR (74.3).
Also, Jackson has run for 465 yards and 2 touchdowns as he continues to show why he is one of the most versatile players in the league. If he continues to play at this level, he will win his third MVP award.
Josh Allen (QB, Bills)
Josh Allen is the NFL leader in QBR (77.6) and has the Bills sitting on top of the AFC East with a 5-2 record. Allen has thrown 12 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions so far this season as he has cut back on turnovers that have plagued him in the past. He has 3 rushing scores as well and is a threat with his legs. Unfortunately for Allen, Lamar Jackson has been dominant and showed that when the Ravens beat the Bills 35-10 on September 29.
Jared Goff (QB, Lions)
Jared Goff has recently decided he doesn’t believe in throwing incomplete passes as the Lions QB has been insanely accurate for the last 3 weeks. He has put up performances of 18/18, 18/25, and 22/25 in wins over the Seahawks, Cowboys, and Vikings. His QB ratings in those games? 155.8, 153.8, and 140.0 while tossing 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The Lions are looking like a Super Bowl contender and Goff will see his name on plenty of MVP ballots at the end of the year if he keeps playing this well.
Jordan Love (QB, Packers)
Jordan Love is fun to watch and is showing off his true gunslinger mentality for the 5-2 Packers. He has 15 touchdown passes but is also tied for the league lead in interceptions with 8. It hasn’t stopped Love from helping the Packers pick up wins and he’s second in the league with 270.2 passing yards per game. The Packers are in one of the toughest divisions in football which means Love will have several opportunities to prove how worthy he is of an MVP. If he picks up big wins down the stretch against teams like the Vikings and Lions, Love could be in the running.
Patrick Mahomes (QB, Chiefs)
Is he playing like an MVP? Not really but the Chiefs are 6-0 and Patrick Mahomes always finds a way to make the biggest play when he needs to. That sounds like an NFL MVP. He will have to turn around his numbers if he wants a chance (6 TD, 8 INT) but what if the Chiefs keep winning? Can you leave him out of the race if the Chiefs win 14 or 15 games this season? It’s a long shot at the moment, but if there ever was a guy who can get hot as ever, it’s Patrick Mahomes so it would be ridiculous to write him off.
Derrick Henry (RB, Ravens)
Derrick Henry is a monster and has given Baltimore another huge threat in the backfield in 2024. Sadly, he will probably not get the credit he deserves because Lamar Jackson is playing so well. Henry is a big part of that success as he has a league-leading 873 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. He’s averaging 123.7 yards per game and 6.5 yards per carry. We have seen this kind of dominance from Henry before and it didn’t lead to an NFL MVP. He ran for 2,207 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2020. Henry was able to win the Offensive Player of the Year Award that season but no MVP.
