The Tennessee Titans went into 2024 without much sense of where things would end up. I assumed they were hoping for the best with a weaker division but still acknowledged that much was unknown about how the offense would look. With a new head coach and a team that spent some time adding pieces to a bottom-tier defense, still so much depended on how the quarterback play fleshed out.
As it turned out, Will Levis probably isn’t the long-term answer in Nashville, and the Titans will again be looking for that next franchise QB. With a 3-14 record, they did manage to secure the top pick in the upcoming draft and can go in any direction they please.
We’ll take a quick look at their most pressing needs as they head into the 2025 NFL Season.

Top Need: Quarterback
This one is a bit of a no-brainer, and typically, they would be in the catbird seat after securing the top overall pick for the 2025 NFL Draft. The issue is, it’s not a strong quarterback class and most experts aren’t even sure that any of the current crop of passers are worth spending a top overall pick on.
Fixing the Offensive Line: Right Tackle
The Titans, to their credit, tried a ton of different things out to address the poor play on the right side of the offensive line. Unfortunately, none of them really worked. Nicholas Petit-Frere, Jaelyn Duncan, John Ojukwu, Isaiah Prince, and Leroy Watson were all highly ineffective on the right side this year. While it seems highly unlikely that they’d spend their top pick on an offensive lineman, they do have the opportunity to trade back into the first round or take some shots on someday two tackles if this isn’t something they can address in free agency.
Targets Needed
Despite making some moves over the past couple of years, the Titans have reached the end of the 2024 season with a poor group of wide receivers. Maybe this is another spot where the team can go out and find something in free agency. After trading Deandre Hopkins to Kansas City earlier this year, they need to find a strong outside receiver to pair with their (presumably) new quarterback. Teams have found gems further down the board at this position, so maybe this is a spot where new GM Mike Borgonzi rolls the dice on some prospects who have some upside.
Other Positions of Need
Edge-Rusher
This is a nice year for depth at the pass rusher position. There are plenty of names that will be pushed back to day two and have lots of upside. It seems as if loads of pass rushers move around in free agency every year, but this is likely a good spot for the Tennessee Titans to draft someone to pass-rush opposing QBs and not have to pay free-agent prices.
Tight End
Similar to their needs at wide receiver, the Titans need to upgrade a bit at TE if they want to give what could be a rookie passer a bit of an easy transition to starting in this offense.

What’s the Plan?
The Titans have aย massive list of free agentsย and will almost certainly be in the top ten for the amount of cap space heading into the offseason. Most mocks do indeed have the Titans just taking a quarterback first overall, the most obvious answer.
With a new general manager in place, it’s tough to say exactly what we think the plan is, but with the top overall pick and a nice sized war chest of cash and picks; it’s not crazy to think that this team can quickly rebuild themselves into someone who can compete in a weak AFC South division.
