Who Played in Last Year’s Super Bowl?
Super Bowl LVIIi featured the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs won 25-22 in overtime thanks to a game-winning touchdown pass by Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman. The game was played at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. There were 61,629 fans in attendance and 123.7 million people watched on television making it the most watched Super Bowl in history.

Super Bowl 58: Chiefs 25, 49ers 22 (OT)

Super Bowl 58 was another thriller as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs beat the 49ers 25-22 in overtime for their second-straight Lombardi Trophy. It was the franchise’s third title in the last five seasons. The 49ers jumped out to a 10-0 lead thanks to a 55-yard field goal from Jake Moody and a trick play that saw Jauan Jennings throw a 21-yard TD pass to Christian McCaffrey.
The Chiefs responded with two field goals by Harrison Butker before a 16-yard TD pass by Patrick Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling gave KC a 13-10 lead at the half. The score came with 2:28 left in the second quarter.
In the second half, the teams traded field goals to be tied up at 16-16 before Jake Moody’s 53-yard field goal with 1:53 left in the game gave the 49ers the lead. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs then went 64 yards in one minute and fifty seconds to set up Harrison Butker who nailed a 29-yard field goal to tie the game.
In overtime, the 49ers took the ball first and drove all the way to the Kansas City 9-yard line but couldn’t convert on 3rd and 4 causing a field goal for a 22-19 lead. The Chiefs then took the ball 75 yards after the kickoff and capped the drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman.
The Chiefs converted a 4th and 1 on the drive as Mahomes went for 8 yards to continue the drive. With just 3 seconds left in overtime, Mahomes hit Hardman for the game-winning title.

Super Bowl LVIII MVP: Quarterback Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes won his third Super Bowl MVP after throwing the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime to Mecole Hardman. Mahomes was 34/46 for 333 yards with 2 touchdowns in the victory. He was cool under pressure on the final drive in overtime as he helped Kansas City win its fourth title in franchise history.

McCaffrey Had 160 Yards for 49ers
For the 49ers, Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey had 160 total yards and caught a touchdown pass. He had 22 carries for 80 yards and caught 8 passes for 80 yards to lead the 49ers in both categories. Brock Purdy was 23/38 for 255 yards with a touchdown pass in the loss.
