I’m kidding, that was a clickbait title.
I’m just not ready yet.
I think as more info comes out and we get through some team workouts and the combine, I will start to seriously look at where Jaxon Dart and Jalen Milroe fit into this picture. This mock draft won’t have any trades yet, but we’re slowly getting to that as well. It’s only February, folks.
2025 NFL Mock Draft 2.0
1. Tennessee – Abdul Carter, Edge, Penn State
This is becoming a popular one, and I’m willing to accept that this is what they mean by “generational talent”. There are some rumors of the Titans getting offers from other organizations to acquire this pick (likely for a QB), so maybe they still get Carter, but further down the board.
2. Cleveland – Travis Hunter, CB, Colorado
I have no idea what the plan is for this team. The QB contract is a mess; the best player wants out, and I’m not sure they know what the path forward is. Fix two positions at once?
3. NY Giants – Cam Ward, QB, Miami
Most agree that the quarterback class is weak but that Ward should be the top one taken. This slots in nicely with a huge need for a team that’s honestly not THAT far away from relevancy. Plus, the coach and GM are on thin ice, and you don’t save your job by taking a defensive tackle.
4. New England – Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
Lots of needs in New England, but given the quick growth seen by Maye, it’d be very fun to see him with an actual high-end offensive weapon. They Pats would need to be aggressive in free agency to help with the offensive line if they go this route.
5. Jacksonville – Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
It’s a tough team to sort out, given the new GM/Head Coach combo, but Graham seems like a can’t-miss kind of piece for a defense that has holes all over it.
6. Las Vegas – Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
It’s another spot with new management all over, but there is still a massive need for a team that tried to half-ass it at QB last year and failed miserably.
7. NY Jets – Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
THREE straight teams with a new GM in the top 10 (checks out). Could see them grabbing a few different defenders, but this one likely increases the effectiveness of their CB1 and gets them back to being the good defense they expected to be this year.
8. Carolina – Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia
A million holes on defense. Even if this isn’t the pick, I think I have the conference and the side of the ball correct for where Carolina is slotted in here.
9. New Orleans – Mykel Williams, Edge, Georgia
Another team that needs to fix a pass rush, but on the cheap. Likely to lose some important pieces in free agency, this
10. Chicago – Will Campbell, OT, LSU
A co-worker got mad that I didn’t take an offensive lineman for his Bears in the first mock draft and I promised I remedy that. Makes plenty of sense to help out Caleb in year two
11. San Francisco – Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss
The 49ers are set to be a bit thin in a few spots as well after free agency, but I think this would be a bit of a reach for a cornerback here, and I like adding help for the defensive front.
12. Dallas – Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
Just going to keep penciling this one in until I can think of something better.
13. Miami – Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas
Another team that needs help protecting their QB, especially since he averages a concussion per year.
14. Indianapolis – Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
Every year I find a player I love to mock draft to the Colts and I’m never right. Hopefully, this one pans out as he would be a massive help to the young quarterback, in my opinion.
15. Atlanta – James Pearce, Edge, Tennessee
The Falcons will probably shock us again and take a kicker, or god knows what, but they SHOULD take an edge rusher if they want to compete in the division next year.
16. Arizona – Shemar Stewart, Edge, Texas A&M
The Cardinals have needs all over the place but really could benefit from an improved pass rush to help out the secondary.
17. Cincinnati – Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
I don’t think there’s a shot in hell that Higgins stays in town. They could pick a defender here, but this one is more fun and it’s only February.
18. Seattle – Armand Membou, OT, Missouri
A guy who could move inside if they needed him to, but considering how the last few picks at tackle have been, he may need to stay outside.
19. Tampa Bay – Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama
The Bucs are a tough one to pin down, and off-ball linebackers sometimes slide, but this kid is very good and fits right in.
20. Denver – Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
Touted as the best tight end prospect by some, he makes sense for a team needing to get more help for the weaker side of the ball.
21. Pittsburgh – Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri
Rumors that he’s a character issue guy? Automatically makes him a Steelers wide receiver.
22. LA Chargers – Nic Scourton, Edge, Texas A&M
The edges are getting older, I love Scourton as an understudy.
23. Green Bay – Mike Green, Edge, Marshall
They are still an inconsistent pass-rushing team last year, so this is a need and will be a theme in my mock drafts going forward.
24. Minnesota – Malaki Starks, S, Georgia
Maybe eventually moving to deep safety, I think Starks can play slot corner and help a Vikes defense that was up and down all year.
25. Houston – Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State
Sure, there were some injuries, but the depth we saw when there were was horrid. This is a big need for Houston, in my opinion.
26. LA Rams – Grey Zabel, OT, NDSU
Now that they are moving on from Cooper Kupp, maybe they’d be in the market for a receiver, but I think the team’s success in finding good wideouts outside of the first round likely has them grabbing some help for this offensive line. Zabel shined a bit last week and is likely popping up in more and more mock drafts.
27. Baltimore – Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
Another try at nailing a wide receiver pick? Zay hasn’t been bad but maybe this is the year they finally find a true WR1
28. Detroit – Jack Sawyer, Edge, Ohio State
The Lions have been unpredictable (but successful) these past few years. I think Sawyer just seems like a “Dan Campbell” guy.
29. Washington – Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
An obvious need for a terrible secondary. I’d think they’d take a couple of shots at it throughout the draft.
30. Buffalo – Princely Umanmielen, Edge, Ole Miss
The Von Miller thing didn’t work; It’s time to replace him on the cheap.
31. Philadelphia – Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan
I’m not sure where their needs are, this roster is stacked. Just grabbing the best available, I’d think.
32. Kansas City – Aierontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota.
Another team may want to take multiple shots at a single position this April. Both tackle spots leave something to be desired.
