OMG The Jets Erased A Three-Goal, Third Period Deficit And White-Out Winnipeg Lost Its Mind
With their series tied 1-1 headed to a Game Three matinee in Winnipeg, the Jets asked their fans to white out their rink with Vegas coming to town. And they did, in magnificent fashion that some might take for granted as a Penn State football tradition. They’ve been doing this in Winnipeg for years — since the old Jets — but haven’t hosted a home playoff game since 2019.
Vegas sprinted to a 2-0 lead in the opening 6:18 of regulation. The Jets cut that lead in half with a Kyle Connor goal at 9:08 into the first. Unfortunately for the Jets, Josh Morrissey — their best defenseman — was unable to return after the first period because of injury.
Jack Eichel scored his second power play goal of the game half-way through the second period and a Keegan Kolesar goal with 2:15 left in the middle period made it 4-1 in favor of the visitors heading to the third period.
But you can only erase a lead one goal at a time. Nino Niederreiter made it 4-2 at 2:04 into the third period. A power play goal from Mark Scheifele at 14:08 cut the lead to one. When Adam Lowry scored the game-tying goal with less than 22 seconds remaining in regulation, it looked like this:
