Bears vs. Titans Line: Chicago an Underdog For Eighth Time in Nine Games

Sports Betting

After hot starts, the Bears and Titans still remain in solid position heading into Week 9, but both teams are riding two-game losing streaks and are in desperate need of a win. This is a critical matchup for both teams, and it figures to be one of the best games of the week, so let’s jump right into the Bears vs. Titans line, odds, and totals.

The Bears vs. Titans line shows Tennessee is a 6-point home favorite against Chicago. The game total is 46.5 points. The Titans are a -245 moneyline favorite, while the Bears moneyline is priced at +215.

Bettors in Illinois were likely disappointed in the Bears’ brutal overtime loss to the Saints last week, but their spread bets cashed in the 26-23 defeat.

At 5-3, the Bears are currently on the outside looking in at the NFC playoff picture. Both the Rams and Bears have 5-3 records, but the Rams hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their Week 7 head-to-head victory. Meanwhile, the Titans are tied with the Colts atop the AFC South standings.

Interestingly, despite similar records, the Titans are favored for the seventh time in eight games. The Bears will be the underdog for the eighth time in nine games. The Bears’ lengthy injury report isn’t helping matters.

Here’s a look at the Bears-Titans odds, betting line, moneyline and total as of December 4, 2022 4:29 PM (ET).

Bears+10 (-110)+400O 47.5
Saints-10 (-110)-500U 47.5

As of Thursday morning, the Bears vs. Titans line has Tennessee as a 6-point favorite, up from 5.5 earlier in the week. Despite racing out to a 5-1 start this season and holding a stellar 5-3 record, it is clear that oddsmakers at legal online sportsbooks such as William Hill simply don’t believe in the banged up Bears. In nine games this season, the Bears have been favored just once. That came all the way back in Week 2 when they hosted the now 1-7 New York Giants.

The Titans are just 2-5 ATS this season. The Bears are 5-3 ATS.

The Bears are +210 on the moneyline, which is slightly higher than their +195 price earlier in the week. The Titans moneyline is priced at -245. It will be interesting to see how the money in the Illinois and newly-launched Tennessee online sports betting markets move these prices leading up to Sunday morning.

Bears vs. Titans Odds Over/Under

The over-under for the Bears and Titans Week 9 game remains steady at 46.5 with PointsBet.

Of note, the over is 3-5 in Bears games this season, missing the total by 2.7 points per contest. For context, only three teams (Giants, Jets, Rams) have stayed under the total by a wider per game margin.

Like last week, the Bears play an opponent that is one of the league’s best “over” bets. The Titans are 5-1-1 in terms of going over the total this season. On average, they’ve cleared the total by a whopping 7.4 points per game.

Bears vs. Titans Line Analysis

Through five games, it seemed the Titans were one of football’s truly elite teams. However, following a failed second-half rally against the Steelers and a stunning 11-point loss to the Bengals, the Titans suddenly have some questions. However, given Tennessee’s success a season ago and dynamic offense, oddsmakers seem comfortable installing them as a solid favorite in this contest.

As for the Bears, though they are coming off of a brutal overtime loss can be, there were some encouraging signs last Sunday from a struggling offense.

The 6-point spread is intriguing — this is the third straight week that Chicago has entered as the weaker side on paper but also enter being given a fair amount of points. This will also be the third straight week bettors must decide if that’s a generous gift or fool’s gold.

Where Is the Money Going?

The early money is split on this one. As of Thursday morning, 50% of all point spread bets back the Bears, but only 21% of the money is on them. Meanwhile, 56% of bets and 54% of the money is on the over.
