How to Bet Rams vs. Packers: Prediction, Odds, Pick

Sports Betting

The NFL Playoffs resume this weekend with an NFC Divisional Round matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers. The well-rested Packers come into this one riding a six-game winning streak in which they’ve averaged 33.5 points per contest, but they will face a stiff test on Saturday afternoon against the Rams No. 1 ranked defense. With the superior quarterback and home field advantage on its side, Green Bay is favored by nearly a touchdown, but Los Angeles proved it was more than capable of going on the road and knocking off an elite quarterback just one week ago. As this matchup kicks off a weekend slate loaded with high-stakes matchups, Rams vs. Packers figures to draw heavy betting action.

There are plenty of ways to bet on the NFL Divisional Round. Let’s run through the best odds, promos, and predictions for Rams vs. Packers with our guide on how to bet the game.

How to Bet on Rams vs. Packers

When it comes to how to bet on Rams vs. Packers, the first thing to know is where the deals are at ahead of kickoff. With the NFL Playoffs rolling along, legal online sportsbooks in states such as Illinois (among several others) are offering thousands of dollars in free bets and boosts. Let’s briefly run through some of the best promos.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel Sportsbook continues to be one of the America’s most popular legal sports betting options and it leads the way as the top option for those who are looking bet on the NFL Divisional Playoffs this weekend.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers 25-1 odds on any NFL Divisional Round contest, including this matchup between the Packers and Rams. It’s worth noting that Green Bay enters as a significant -330 moneyline favorite over the Rams. Normally, such odds require a bettor to wager $412.50 to win $125. With this offer, however, bettors must only risk $5 to win the same amount of money. While the Rams are a healthy +265 on the moneyline, a 25-1 odds boost on the underdog in this spot also represents substantial added value.

In addition to the new player boost, FanDuel Sportsbook offers a variety of special Divisional Round betting markets, prop bets and odds boosts.

DraftKings Sportsbook

Similar to FanDuel, DraftKings Sportsbook also has a low-risk, high-ceiling new player promo available ahead of this weekend’s action. Those who sign up can grab 100-1 odds on any of the eight remaining teams.

With this special, a bettor can sign up to bet Rams vs. Packers and wager $1 to win $100 on either side. While DraftKings’ 100-1 odds are substantially better than the 25-1 odds offered by FanDuel, the offers are similar because FanDuel offers a larger maximum bet ($5 vs. $1) and a larger potential payout.

Beyond the new user sign up offer, DraftKings has some alternative ways to maximize profits this weekend. The first is a 25% parlay boost on any 3+ leg NFL parlay, while the other is a 50% profit boost for any live bet made Saturday and Sunday. Both of these offers stand in addition to the multiple player and game odds boosts available throughout all four games.

Rams vs. Packers Betting Notes

Why Betting on the Packers Makes Sense

It all comes down to Aaron Rodgers. He’s an outstanding 91-65-4 ATS at Lambeau Field in postseason and regular season games and sports an 11-6-1 ATS postseason mark overall.

Also keep in mind the weather forecast ahead of this one. Rodgers has thrived in cold weather over a large sample size, while Goff has been terrible in a small sample size. In games played with an average temperature of 32 degrees or less, Rodgers is 28-10-1 ATS, while Goff is 0-2 ATS. In fact, Goff’s stats in those two starts are just downright brutal. He completed just 34 of 72 pass attempts for 381 yards, 0 TD and 5 INT.

Why Betting on the Rams Makes Sense

Since 2003, betting on the top seeds in the Divisional Round hasn’t been a lucrative proposition. No.1 seeds are just 13-22-1 ATS. That being said, Rodgers and the Packers have excelled throughout his career in covering the number with added rest. Green Bay is 10-5-1 ATS  with at least 12 days of rest.

Under Sean McVay, the Rams, who are 7-2 ATS over their last nine games as road underdogs, have shown an ability to go on the road in the postseason and win in difficult spots. In addition to knocking off the Seahawks last weekend, the Rams also went into New Orleans in 2018 and pulled the upset to reach Super Bowl 53.

Rams vs. Packers Prediction

Jared Goff has struggled in both starts played in freezing conditions. Temperatures will be right around the freezing mark tomorrow evening in Green Bay. Admittedly, I wouldn’t typically put too much stock in this trend, but I’m skeptical that Goff, who will play with a pin in his injured thumb, will have much success in the wintry conditions. Rodgers, meanwhile, has a great track record of success in such conditions and comes into this matchup playing at an MVP level. While I’m a bit wary of the ATS performance of top seeds in this round, I’m giving the nod to Green Bay in this particular context.

Rams  vs. Packers Pick

I’m going with the Packers (-6.5) over the Rams.
