WGC Dell Match Play History & Winners
This week the PGA Tour fields two events with the big one being in Texas. Let’s take a look at some WGC Dell Match Play History. Golf’s version of March Madness got it’s start as an unofficial event way back in 1995. Then in 1999 it became a World Golf Championship tournament and has been part of the PGA schedule since.

The tournament style golf event was played in Carlsbad, California and made a pit stop in Australia from 1999 to 2006. It’s also been held at two different Arizona golf clubs, and in the Bay Area at TPC Harding Park back in 2015.
Since 2016, Dell has been the primary sponsor and the tournament has been hosted by The Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas. Since joining the schedule in 1999, we’ve had three golfers win multiple times with Tiger Woods (‘03, ‘04, ‘08) being the only 3-time champ.
