Remember Vladimir Guerrero’s Arm?

Classic Plays

As a Chicago Cubs fan and blogger, I’ve read, analyzed, and have written about each of their young positional talents a large number of times. Some of the repeating trends that are created throughout that research are the big league comps from former players.

They aren’t exclusive to the Cubs, of course, and I’m sure you’ve heard them before: Javier Baez swings like Gary Sheffield or Jorge Soler has an arm like Vladimir Guerrero.

Except … I don’t know if anyone has an arm like this. Holy cow:

Not only was that throw right on the money, it got to home plate with authority and on the fly. It was there in plenty of time to tag out Castillo despite the fact that the ball forced Guerrero so deep.

There’s a reason why the MLB prospects with huge arms get comped to players like Vlad Guerrero – it’s because his may have been the best.
