Mitch Trubisky’s Jerseys Have Been Selling Like Hotcakes and Other Bullets

Dick’s Sporting Goods shared its list of top-selling jerseys from the last month, where you’ll find that Mitch Trubisky jersey sales surpassed those of Tom Brady (a.k.a. The G.O.A.T. ) over the last month:

There’s buying the hype … and then there’s buying the hype.

And if *you* would like to jump on the bandwagon, then the Chicago Bears’ official pro shop has just what you’re looking for, and with a free shipping offer that ends in about 17 hours or so, to boot.

Bonus points if you get yourself one of those hot orange jerseys.

  • Trubisky’s popularity has been on the rise since draft day. Sure, there was some initial push back when the Bears made the trade to make the selection. But since then, Bears fans have rallied around the 2017 first-round pick. So seeing that his jersey is among the best sellers isn’t much of a surprise.
  • Getting on the Trubisky bandwagon has been pretty easy. Trubisky didn’t sit out during the offseason training program, despite not having a signed rookie contract. He also performed well in training camp, and even stayed late to take on some extra work with centers and receivers. From there, Trubisky out-played Mike Glennon in the preseason and gradually earned the respect of his teammates. Trubisky has said and done all the right things since becoming a member of the Bears, now it’s time for him to put what he’s learned onto the football field.
  • John Mullin of NBC Sports Chicago highlights three things Trubisky needs to get ironed out in order to succeed moving forward. The Bears changed coaches on the offensive side of the ball and focused on adding talent for Trubisky to target with the idea of building around him. But if Trubisky doesn’t re-discover the accuracy he had in college, protect the ball, or show off good timing and rhythm, these moves could all be for nothing. Luckily, there’s plenty of time to work out the kinks between now and Week 1.
  • Speaking of countdowns:
  • So is Trubisky more of a Jared Goff or a Carson Wentz? I’m intrigued by this explanation and comparison of Chicago’s signal caller and the two quarterbacks who have Bears fans believing their quarterback can do big things in Year 2, too:
  • The Bears have 13 receivers vying for a maximum of six spots on the season-opening 53-man roster. That’s right, 13 receivers hoping to catch passes from Trubisky once the games start counting in the standings. ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson sees Bennie Fowler as one of the wideouts on the bubble. Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Anthony Miller are locks. Kevin White is getting every chance from the coaching staff to make the team. Josh Bellamy is a special teams contributor who happens to play receiver. The rest of the group, Fowler included, faces tough competition ahead in training camp.
  • In the same piece, fellow ESPNer Mike Rodak offers up the idea of former first-round Shaq Lawson being on the trading block. Lawson was part of the same draft class as Leonard Floyd and was a highly touted pass-rusher, but he simply hasn’t carved a niche in the defensive schemes he has played for in Buffalo. Based on recent history that shows a willingness to deal former draft choices (such as Sammy Watkins), we should keep an eye on what’s happening with the Bills this summer.
  • Some early odds on which coach will be the first fired, and it’s no surprise that the guy leading the Cleveland Browns is the favorite to be the first one canned:
  • It’s nice not to have to worry about a Bears coach popping up on the list, but it’s not like this collection of coaches doesn’t have a share of Bears ties. Chicago will face Adam Gase, Todd Bowles, and Pete Carroll during the regular season, while also having a practice session in Denver with Vance Joseph’s squad in the preseason. Last year’s Bears team defeated Hue Jackson, Marvin Lewis, and John Harbaugh. And to round out the group, the Bears’ offensive coordinator (Mark Helfrich) coached under Dirk Koetter during his time at Arizona State. Go figure.
  • Perhaps Baker Mayfield can save Jackson’s job in Cleveland? OK, that’s a lot to ask out of a rookie quarterback. HOWEVER, if anyone can do it, it’s someone who is as bold as this guy:
  • With all due respect to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim living legend Mike Trout, stick to baseball:
