The Chicago Bears are poaching someone off the Houston Texans.
But it’s not who you’re hoping it is. Well, not yet at least:

The Bears are bringing on Chris Rumph as their new defensive line coach. Rumph replaces Jay Rodgers, the popular and successful DL Coach who left for the Chargers upon the expiration of his contract.
It’s a new position to coach for Rumph, who arrives from Houston after coaching Texans linebackers last season. After joining the Bears, Rumph will work with Akiem Hicks and friends. Talk about an upgrade.
Prior to his time in Houston, Rumph had an extensive coaching career at the collegiate level. Rumph spent 18 years in college, including stops at Tennessee (Outside Linebackers, Co-Defensive Coordinator), Florida (Defensive Line), Texas (Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line), Alabama (Defensive Line), and Clemson (Defensive Line/Ends). It’s a pretty decorated résumé, especially when considering more than 20 players he coached were selected in future NFL Drafts. I feel as if something has to be going right to keep getting jobs and players within your position group continue to get drafted. Just saying …
The Bears still have linebackers coaches and a safeties coach to hire on the defensive side of the ball. They also need to hire someone to coach running backs and possibly serve as a pass game coordinator. But right now, I just really want to hear something about how Deshaun Watson *really* loved Coach Rumph.
