The Cubs will have an even greater chance at setting a record today. It’s not a particularly GREAT record, but it’s kind of a fun one.
First, the move:
#Cubs place Willson Contreras on the 10-day IL with right hip inflammation. Tyler Payne selected from Triple-A. Alfonso Rivas transferred to 60-day IL.

As mentioned this morning, Contreras’s season ends with the hip injury, but it was a solid finish to the year for him.
So today, if Payne gets an at bat today, or if Joe Biagini gets a relief appearance, the Cubs will set the record for most players used in a single season. Oh, and if both get in, the Cubs will be up to 69 players used on the season. GO CUBS!
