Another night of feeling like the game was over before I’d finished my first beer. So to speak. A loss is a loss and all that, but a second consecutive blowout loss to these Pirates … it definitely has some extra coleslaw on it. I do not like coleslaw.
Matt Swarmer alternated whiffs and rockets, which is to say he’s getting closer to the results you would expect from a two-pitch pitcher with a really good slider and an average fastball. In short bursts, where the fastball plays up and he can lean even more heavily on the slider, you can see a big league pitcher. Middle relief at least. As a starter, well, the last few outings have made it pretty hard to see.
Patrick Wisdom hit one a billion feet, and that was the sum of the offense tonight in the runs column.
