Tonight’s Cubs lineup is a fun one. A day after wrapping up a series against the Pirates, Anthony Rizzo gets his first day off in a very long time, and Kris Bryant takes his place at first:

Tommy La Stella brings his mighty lefty stick to the cleanup spot, which is actually fine with me. Given that the guys lower in the order are likely to remain lower in the order when the rubber meets the road in upcoming lineups, I’m fine with them sticking where they are and having La Stella simply take Rizzo’s spot.
Also, keep in mind: if Rizzo were swapped back into the game at some point, it’s possible that Bryant would slide over to third base, and Rizzo would thus slot right back into the lineup in the cleanup spot.
