That game we’ve all known was going to happen is finally here! The biggest story for me is Ayo Dosunmu and 1) whether or not he plays, and 2) how healthy he is. Ayo was at shootaround this morning and getting shots up, so that’s a plus but he’s listed as a game-time decision. He’s been outstanding defensively against Trae Young in his career, and this offensively he’s averaged 21.0 PPG and shot 55% from beyond the arc in three games against Atlanta this season. His availability is huge.
Chicago is going to need to rely a bit on Torrey Craig and Javonte Green on the boards tonight. Andre Drummond is questionable, and even if he plays he might not be 100% on that ankle. Craig has shown the ability to play bigger this season, and Javonte has averged 9.3 rebounds per game in the month of April. With Drummond maybe not being at full strength, guys like that will have to be more active on the boards especially against an Atlanta team that is very good on the boards and has a rebounding machine in Clint Capela.
I’m very excited to watch Coby White tonight. He’s had a breakout season, and he should win Most Improved Player. While tonight isn’t his first postseason game, tonight is his first postseason game playing this big of a role. It’s his and DeMar’s team now, and I’m very excited to see how he comes out tonght. I’m hoping to see him grab that torch and have a bit of a coming out party on national TV to the league.
