What an awesome, historic moment.
Earlier tonight, after Giants first base coach Antoan Richardson was ejected from the game, assistant coach Alyssa Nakken made her way to the field to take over in his place. It was her on-field coaching debut with the Giants, and her presence broke a massive barrier in MLB history. Tonight, Alyssa Nakken became the first woman to coach on the field of an MLB game.
It was quite clear that everyone understood the significance of the moment.

Eventually, you hope these moments will become less special because they’re less unique, but for tonight, this was a nice step in the right direction. There are more women making their way into baseball every day, and the sport is better for it.
