Turnabout is fair play, I guess, and hopefully the Mariners can take solace in that aphorism.
Fresh off their massive comeback win against the Blue Jays, which sent them to this ALDS series against the Astros, the Mariners built a big early lead off of Justin Verlander. Dude had been close to invincible in the regular season, so it was a shock.
Even more shocking was the comeback the Astros thereafter mounted, with two runs in the 8th, and then this MASSIVE home run by Yordan Alvarez in the bottom of the 9th to walk it off:
That was 116.7 mph(!!!) off the bat, and 438 feet out to right. Just an absolute rocket of a homer, and if you’re going to walk it off, that’s how you WALK IT OFF.
