The disappointment of Khalil Herbert not getting the nod as the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week has subsided in the wake of the news that he has won the NFL’s Ground Player of the Week.
A well-earned honor, indeed:
Finally! Some recognition for a Bears player. And not just any Bears player. Someone representing for the much-maligned offense. Way to go, Khalil!
I mean, how can you NOT give him the award after this performance:
Having Herbert as a RB2 feels like a cheat code. And it is one the Bears should feel fortunate to have. David Montgomery didn’t practice on Wednesday and could miss Sunday’s game against the Giants due to foot/ankle injuries. But the Bears shouldn’t sweat it as long as Herbert is available to carry the rock. And maybe he’ll pull through with a follow-up performance so good that voters who pick the NFC’s Player of the Week award winner can’t sleep on him two weeks in a row.
Now, don’t forget to dap up your offensive linemen when you get your trophy.
