Watching defensive backs jockey for position on the Chicago Bears depth chart during training camp is one of my favorite things.
And this year it will be no different.
Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Kindle Vildor are in line to return in 2023. But there are roster spots to be won behind that trio. Perhaps Greg Stroman Jr. can play his way into one of those roles. The team announced he is back on a reserve/future contract:
Stroman was in the starting lineup in the Bears’ season-finale due to the injury bug’s work in depleting the secondary. But the Virginia Tech product made the most of his moment. Stroman played 99 percent of the defensive snaps and came away with 4 solo tackles, a pass breakup, and his second career interception.
They say you always remember your first. And I hope Stroman has fond memories of his first interception with the Bears:
Again, there are jobs to win in the Bears’ secondary. Maybe Stroman’s late-season performance will give him a leg up when competition begins.
