With rookie minicamp approaching, it was only a matter of time until the Chicago Bears made it officially official with their class of undrafted free agent rookies.
TE Brenden Bates — The University of Kentucky product played high school at Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, which is where Tom Waddle played his high school ball.
OL Theo Benedet — A four-year starter at right tackle for the University of British Columbia, Benedet was a standout at the East-West Shrine Bowl following the 2022 season.
LB Carl Jones Jr. — Has playing experience as a safety, linebacker, edge defender, and special teams contributor from his 57 games played while at UCLA.
DL Jamree Kromah — Played defensive end and tackle for James Madison while earning first-team All-Sun Belt honors.
WR Peter LeBlanc — A wide receiver who played collegiately at Louisiana. Last year, LeBlanc caught 30 passes for 468 yards, and four touchdowns. He also punted in high school, so Tory Taylor and Corliss Waitman better keep an eye out for that guy.
DL Keith Randolph Jr. — I didn’t realize this University of Illinois product did not play football until he was a junior in high school.

QB Austin Reed — Won a national championship at Division II West Florida in 2019, throwing for 4,084 yards with 40 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions that season.
DB Reddy Steward — The University of Troy star earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors in each of the last two years.
RB Ian Wheeler — The Howard University product averaged 25.4 yards on kick returns and scored three touchdowns. Considering the NFL’s new kickoff rules, I’ll be curious to see how he looks in this rule.
We’re familiar with a handful of the players, some of whom had been connected as Bears targets and signings almost immediately after the draft. Rookie minicamp begins on Friday. And I’m looking forward to seeing some early returns.
