Blackhawks vs Devils – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Blackhawks Nick Foligno
Chicago Blackhawks Nick Foligno

What on earth are we going to do on Sunday evening? The Blackhawks are coming off a huge win against the Florida Panthers — last night. The Devils’ gear was all in the hallways in the bowels of the United Center before the morning skate yesterday because they were coming in banged up. Neither team held a morning skate on Sunday. But the Blackhawks should feel great about their performance less than 24 hours ago.

Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson said after Saturday night’s game that he doesn’t want these great performance to always be after an ugly loss. He wants his team to get on a roll and rattle off a few in a row… and they’ve got a great chance to take advantage of a Devils team that’s got a few of their most important players hurting right now. Sometimes it’s about when you play a team, and this lines up for the Blackhawks to hopefully stay on the right track and get another strong win.

Injury Report

Chicago Blackhawks

  • The Blackhawks are still without Colin Blackwell (lower body). Everyone else is back available.
  • New Jersey Devils

  • Jack Hughes is out (upper-body). Nico Hischier and Cal Foote are banged up. Tomas Nosek, Nolan Foote, Colin Miller and Nico Dawes are on IR.
  • What to Watch For

  • Can Bedard score ion a fourth straight game?
  • The Blackhawks are as healthy as they’ve been since opening night. Hall and Vlasic are both back in the lineup, so this is as close to full strength as you’re gonna get with this team.
  • Jack Hughes is on a Hart Trophy pace to start the season. But he crashed into the boards on Friday night and isn’t playing; Lindy Ruff told us he’s considered week-to-week and is back in Jersey. So we’re going to have to see how their forward lines actually roll tonight.
  • Ruff also said Bedard has “exceeded expectations” and he’s been impressed with how quickly he’s adjusting to the NHL. The veteran head coach noted the comparisons between Jack Hughes and Bedard, so it sucks that we won’t get to see it tonight.
  • Get Caught Up
