Other early second-rounders like Jason Preston (No. 33) and Miles McBride (No. 36) also signed for two guaranteed years but were each handed third-year team options. Meanwhile, higher second-rounders like Isaiah Todd (No. 30) and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (No. 32) inked four-year deals with their respective teams.
It’s unclear how much Dosunmu will play right off the bat to start his rookie season. His Summer League play has been up and down as he tries to acclimate to a more consistently off-the-ball role. However, a projected first-round talent by many, and now signed in Chicago through two seasons, I think we can expect the coaching staff to slowly but surely try to get him involved over the course of the 2021-22 season. Not the most explosive or high-upside prospect, Dosunmu still has one of the more well-rounded skill sets in the draft.
Chicago also officially added another guard to their roster on Friday night when Devon Dotson signed his qualifying offer. By agreeing to this $1.5 million deal, Dotson will return on a two-way contract, which means he is likely to see time with both the big league roster and the Windy City Bulls of the G-League. Dotson has also suited up for the bulls in Summer League, having a very strong 16-point, 7-rebound, and 4-assist performance in Game 1 versus the Pelicans. He was forced to exit the team’s most recent game against the Timberwolves due to an ankle injury.
