Draft Lottery Sim, Cody Williams Thoughts, New Chicago Sports Network? And Other Bulls Bullets

We are one week away from the Chicago Bulls being rewarded with the No. 1 overall pick!

  • The NBA Draft Lottery projects to be a pretty uneventful night for the Chicago Bulls. The team is currently locked into the No. 11 slot, which gives them just a 9.4 percent chance to move into the top 4 and a 2.0 percent chance to move into the No. 1 slot. Regardless, a lottery pick is a lottery pick. I’m just glad this mediocre team didn’t toss this opportunity away for a chance to get swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round.
  • With the ping pong balls inching closer, we might as well start to do a little daily sim! Tankathon allows for you to simulate the lottery and maps out the percentages for each team. I pressed the button this morning and – anti-climatic drum roll, please – the Chicago Bulls dropped one spot to No. 12! So who’s a good name that could be there at the end of the lottery? How about Cody Williams out of Colorado? The brother of emerging star Jalen Williams with OKC, Cody is a super long and versatile wing who moves well off the ball and has flashed a promising shooting stroke. He may not be much of a threat to create off the dribble right now, but he’s only 19 years old and could be a fun project piece. I also think – similar to what we saw early on with Patrick Williams – Cody should be able to provide an immediate impact defensively.
  • For what it’s worth, I’ve seen multiple mock drafts have Williams landing in the Chicago Bulls’ lap over the past handful of weeks. But I also think there is a good chance he jumps up the leaderboards after scouts get a closer look. He has premier size at a position that every team covets, and we also know this draft lacks a clear hierarchy. I expect to see a lot of movement regarding where certain players are forecasted to go over the next month or so.
  • If you’re interested, No Ceilings put together a great highlight tape of Cody. I’m sure I’ll also put together a more in-depth scouting report as we get closer to the draft.
  • ICYMI: Lonzo Ball decided to make $21.4 million next season …
  • You know what really stinks? The original deal for Ball felt great. Four years, $80 million was a potential steal for someone who was quickly becoming one of the league’s best 3-point shooters and looked like a future All-Defensive Team member. He wasn’t the most traditional of point guards, but he fit well next to an offensive-minded trio that lacked real playmaking capabilities. I know there were some concerns about his knees, but nobody saw a potentially career-ending injury looming. Now, what should have felt like a home run dollar amount for a 26-year-old feels like a huge nuisance. What a huge bummer.

  • The Anthony Edwards-Michael Jordan comparisons continue after he dropped 43 points in a Game 1 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
  • Honestly, I’m kind of shocked that Jordan isn’t part of this club …
  • According to The Athletic, the Chicago Bulls, White Sox, and Blackhawks are about to be a part of a new network. The teams have joined forces with Standard Media Group to create a new “unnamed” channel that will be featured across a handful of platforms. We recently heard that Jerry Reinsdrof was considering taking his teams to the Chicago-based media company Stadium, but it sounds like that will no longer take place.
  • As of now, it’s unclear what this means for some of the familiar faces we’ve seen over at NBC Sports Chicago. I’m really hoping that the new network does whatever it can to bring over a lot of the same talent, but only time will tell. If one thing is for sure, I have to imagine Adam Amin and Stacey King will remain on the call.
  • A big absence (literally and figuratively) for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a must-win game …
  • That cheer for Caleb was awesome …
  • Did someone say lottery hype!?
