The NBA officially revealed the 2023-24 All-NBA teams, and there weren’t a whole bunch of surprises.
Naturally, the three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic cracked the First Team for the fourth time, making his sixth All-NBA nod in a row. This was the first year that award voting was positionless, meaning the players with the most votes – regardless of position – were going to be placed in order.
Here’s what the teams look like …
First Team All-NBA
Jokic and Gilgeous-Alexander were both voted to the team unanimously and received first-team votes on all 99 ballots cast. Doncic joined Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant as the only players ever with three selections prior to turning 26 years old, per ESPN.
Second Team All-NBA
Third Team All-NBA
The All-NBA selections for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic mean that massive, record-setting supermax contracts are on the way, per Bobby Marks. The first-team nod earned Luka eligibility for a five-year deal worth $346 million dollars, which could pay him $60 million in year one and climb up to around $79 million in the final year!
Gilgeous-Alexander is now able to sign a four-year extension for a whopping $294 million. This deal would pay the Thunder star guard $65 million in year one and make its way up to nearly $81 million in year five. So, essentially, Shai would make just about $1 million PER GAME in the final year of that deal.
Both Tyrese Haliburton of the Pacers and Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves are also due for pay increases. The two young stars (currently competing in the conference finals) agreed to five-year extensions last offseason worth $205 million, but those deals will now be worth $245 million thanks to these honors.
