Randy Wells gave up his usual runs in the first, and then was throwing batting practice thereafter. That he gave up only four runs on two homers was nothing short of a miracle. And Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Pena got those four runs back with homers of their own.
The winning run scored on a squeeze… which the Nats attempted twice before getting it right. That proves either that the squeeze is absolutely indefensible, or Mike Quade’s handling of the situation is absolutely indefensible. I’ll let you work that one out.
