Lighter fare …
Because Pearl Jam is playing at Wrigley Field this Summer, and because Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein loves Pearl Jam, the latter’s Twitter account shot out the following picture yesterday:
This is, of course, cool on many levels. What I’d like to point out is the casually eclectic mix of favorites Epstein has. It’s not just a list of radio songs – ‘Jeremy,’ ‘Better Man,’ ‘Yellow Ledbetter,’ and ‘Corduroy’ are among the notable omissions – but there are some of the bigger ones on there (‘Daughter,’ ‘Black,’ ‘Alive’). Huge plaudits to Theo for including five of my favorites – ‘Smile,’ ‘Release,’ ‘Off He Goes,’ ‘Low Light,’ and the best of the best, ‘Nothingman.’ And I can only assume Theo would have included ‘Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town’ if it would have fit on the Old Scoreboard.
If I had to throw in some more of my own, they would undoubtedly include ‘I Got ID,’ ‘Immortality,’ ‘Given to Fly’ … I could go on. Man, Pearl Jam has a lot of good songs.
(Note the Easter Egg nod in the “Batter” section.)
