Yes: It Looks Like Albert Almora is Finally Headed to Kane County

Chicago Cubs

albert almoraComing into the 2013 season, if you were going to focus on three Chicago Cubs prospects, it was probably Jorge Soler, Javier Baez, and Albert Almora. While the first two have been playing at High-A Daytona, Almora has been working hard in Arizona. That’s because he’s been coming back from having the hamate bone in his wrist removed, after an unfortunate break in Spring Training. It has felt like an eternity, as impatient fans want to see all of “the big three” in action.

Thankfully, his recovery is at a close, and he’s now ready to head out and play some real baseball. His 2013 season will begin at Low-A Kane County, if his Twitter stream is to be believed – Almora recently retweeted a bunch of congratulations from teammates who say that Almora is headed to Kane County. I think that sounds pretty legit, and it’s a fair bet that we’ll see him in action later this week.

Almora is one of the top prospects in the Cubs’ system, and was their first round pick in 2012. It will be great to finally see him in action at full-season ball, and there’s plenty of time for him to get in a solid season of work.
