In case you were worried when you saw the early reports that third baseman Kris Bryant had been scratched from today’s game in Las Vegas thanks to a shoulder issue, you can rest a little easy.
Not only did Bryant soon enter the game as the designated hitter, but in his first at bat, he did exactly what you’re thinking he did. He homered. Because he is ridiculous.
Hopefully the shoulder issue is just an early Spring Training adjustment, which is not uncommon. It could also potentially explain some of the throwing issues we’ve seen from him in the early going. The Cubs called it “shoulder fatigue,” for what that’s worth.
Either way, it’s not hindering the bat. He’s probably already homered again by the time you’re reading this.
