Nobody likes being down 3-0, so it would be swell if the Cubs can win this one. Pretty simple, eh?
Kyle Hendricks starts for the Cubs in his most important start yet. He handled himself adequately last time out in the NLDS in St. Louis, but he made at least three bad mistake pitches that ended up in the seats. Tonight, I doubt the Cubs can afford that.
On the offensive side, the Cubs are undoubtedly hoping a little warmer weather will help spur them back along, but Jacob deGrom isn’t usually one to help with the spurring. These Cubs can beat him – they’ve done it before – but it’s far from a sure thing. He’s been dominant this year for a reason.
Jorge Soler gets the start in right, but otherwise these lineups are basically the same as they were for Game Two. Hopefully the bases are empty for the obligatory, inexplicable homer that is coming at some point. He’ll probably turn the bat sideways and pop the ball out to center like a pool cue.
